On November 1, Lions Camp Hickory hosted a Halloween Party for families with children affected by Diabetes at the Ritter Community House in Lions Community Park in Baldwinsville. Parents of the children were very involved with planning and decorating for this event and working with Lions Camp Hickory to make the evening a fun event for everyone.

Volunteers worked at the Community house through the afternoon decorating and carving pumpkins and preparing treats for the kids. Festivities began that evening as families arrived in costume and enjoyed a pizza and hot dog party as the park was getting dark and spooky. Following dinner, Jeff the Magic Man entertained everyone with a magic show and provided balloon animals and sculptures to every one who wanted one.

The scary event of the night was a hay ride through the darkened park where ghosts and ghouls appeared from nowhere to the delight of the children who screamed in excitement. After the hay ride, the children were encouraged to prepare and enjoy s'mores they prepared themselves over a camp fire.

The Lions Camp Hickory organization hosted this event and plans on working with the families to provide additional support for them by sponsoring more events in the future.
