Personnel Coordinator/Volunteer Coordinator

Responsible to: Camp Director

General Responsibility: Recruit, process, screen, train and schedule all camp personnel. Develop materials and reports necessary to meet Count Health Inspection requirements of camp staff.

Specific Duties:

Update volunteer applications and training materials yearly, as needed.

Recruit counselors from local high school and colleges, giving first preference to returning counselors from prior years, who should be contacted early in the new year.

Assist in recruiting other camp volunteers as requested by key personnel.

Establish and maintain necessary individual files on all personnel who work or assist at camp.

Set training dates early in the year and assure that all key staff members are available to participate. In addition, work with Dr. Brann to establish the training schedule for the SU Nutrition students on campus.

Create an Excel spread sheet of key personnel information that can be used to:

screen workers with the NYS Dept. of Justice Sex Offender Registry

create a staff directory for use by the County Health Inspector and key staff members

produce a T-shirt control report, sorted by quantity and color

produce a list of personnel available to work each week

Manage all aspects of the training process including :

communicating training dates to all personnel required to attend

creating training agenda in conjunction with the camp director

preparing the training manuals and other handouts

supervising and participating in the actual training program

maintaining accurate attendance sheets for the County records and verifying that all required personnel have attended

Work with the camp director and assistant program director to schedule all counselors and match them to appropriate campers and family groups

Send out thank you letters to volunteers and work with publicity director concerning other appropriate correspondence.
